Time to Go - The Muster Point Project
4:29
This is first song I've ever released on streaming services! It's available on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and hundreds of other places nobody will ever hear it.
Over the winter, I wrote 100 songs in 100 days, pushing myself to hone my songwriting skills - musically, none of these works had any lyrics. They were short little numbers, experimenting with different sounds, different arrangements and in the process, I taught myself how to butcher the piano and play the bass. It was then I turned my sights to writing full on songs with words and everything. While this isn't the first song I wrote, it is the first I released into the world in a big, distributed kind of way.
I hope you like it.
Time to go, doesn't really have a chorus, there are musical breaks with every instrument doing a different build. It's meant to sound like confusion (it felt like confusion playing it!), a reflection of the state of mind one is in when facing the decision to leave.
In the end it's a breakup song. The decision to go in a different direction because the path your on isn't going where you want it to go is something many people face. And, even when every piece of you knows it's what needs to happen, it's never an easy decision.

Lyrics:
Feel like you’re living on the edge of town
Walking around with your head down
When you know, don’t be afraid
Cause you’ll know, it’s time to go
There comes a time when you cannot hide
The times are tough, you have to decide
It’s hard to do, but you know it’s right
Cause you know, it’s time to go
You can walk ‘til your shoes break down
Don't mean a thing if you’re still around
Time to punch the clock tonight
Cause you know, it’s time to go
Sometimes at night you just lay awake
Wondering just what it will take
For you to leave and start all over again
Cause you know, it’s time to go
It’s been so long since you’ve seen the light
You get so stuck and it don't feel right
You try hard to conceal the pain
Cause you know, it’s time to go
Words come hard when you can’t even think
Your mind is clouded your heart it does sink
You feel so empty and when she does too
Then you know, it’s time to go
Feel like you’re living on the edge of town
Walking around with your head down
When you go, don’t be afraid
Cause you know, it’s time to go
Cause you know, it’s time to go
Cause you know, it’s time to go
